This page will be used to display helpful photos of Mason's Benik vest, his night brace, his helmet, the feeding chair, his g-tube and other procedures as we go... We hope that this will be a good resource for other parents with children that have CMS or some other disease with similar symptoms.

1. R82 Wombat Chair

This manual wheelchair retails for over $2,000!  We were blessed to receive one free of charge from a local loan closet called Lexi's Closet.  Thank you so much to the family that donated this chair to Lexi's Closet!  We look forward to returning the chair when Mason's grows out of it so that another family will benefit as much as we have.

This is Mason's Wombat Chair. It provides head support,
foot support and trunk support whenever he is sitting.

For Mason, the most helpful part of the Wombat Chair
are the side clamps that come around his ribs.
They prop his left side up so that he can sit up straight while eating.

 2.  Benik Vest & Danmar Soft Shell Helmet

From the age of 18 months - 25 months Mason wore a Benik
Vest 12 hours each day. It's alot like a wetsuit -
very thick neoprene material and provides additional trunk support.

The Danmar SoftShell Helmet arrived just a few months ago. It is very light weight and easy to get on and off. So far Mason has not protested at all - we make him wear it whenever he is on the go. He falls a lot and his protective reflexes are slow many days... the helmet gives us more peace of mind when he wants to move around on his own.

3. TLSO Brace

Thoracolumbosacral orthosis. This is one of two main types of braces used to correct the lateral (sideways) curve of the spine in scoliosis. Patients can wear this brace to correct spinal curves whose apex is at or below the eighth thoracic vertebra. The TLSO is an underarm brace, which means that it fits under the arm and around the rib cage, lower back, and hips.

Mason's TLSO Brace - This brace was made in January for Mason.  Our trip to Mayo Clinic revealed that this brace only provides mild correction.  He will use it until he is casted next month at Mayo Clinic.
Big brother helping hook up the Pulse Ox machine to Mason's toe.  Due to his poor swallow, Mason's pulmonologist prescribed a pulse ox machine in order to alert us of a respiratory issue while Mason is sleeping in the brace.
